New Nikon DSLR
Well, after much anticipation and waiting around Nikon have recently announced their latest Pro DSLR - the D4, this is an iteration of the highly successful and popular D3S that has found favour amongst sports photographers and press photographers because of it amazing capability to shoot in very poor lighting conditions with good quality results. The new D4 seems to improve on this and now offers professional quality video capabilities. Great news if you need this feature, not so good if you don’t! and for the following reason, the old D3S retails at around £3,400.00 for the body only (ouch!) but the D4 retails for an eye watering £4,799.99 also for the body only. Yes, they are both professional and rugged cameras but to have to fork out an extra £1,800.00 for video capabilities seems a little extreme. Incidentally, the D700, the darling of many professional wedding and portrait photographers retails at around £1,800.00 for the body and believe me, you would be hard pressed to see the difference in the images (under normal lighting conditions) between any of these cameras. I think I‘ll wait awhile before I upgrade my D700 for the much-anticipated D800 and hope that Nikon don’t price it too high, one can only live in hope.
