Nikon have today anounced their latest DSLR the D800, I have been waiting for this camera for a while as the rumour mill has been grinding for some time now with speculation as to its specification. Well I was not disappointed; its a 36 megapixel monster and comes in two version, the D800 and the D800e, the latter model coming minus the sensor bypass filter which puts it near to the "medium format" league of DSLR's such as Hassleblad in terms of image quality and HB's cost at least 3 times as much.
This is not a camera for the faint hearted or those with small hard drives (or limited budgets for that matter!) as the 36mp will take up an enourmous amount of space particularly if you shoot in RAW as I do, but from what I have read about it so far, it might well be worth the upgrade from my D700.
Now, do I pre-order or not? Hmm...........
