Well, what an unusual and eventful 2012 has been! as we are all quite aware this has been a very, very wet year which has undoubtably caused a few problems amongst many wedding photographers, myself included.
Fortunately I only had one wedding where the rain caused a slight problem, the rest of my brides enjoyed dry (if not cold and windy) days.
2012 was fairly busy with weddings but the Olympics did have a prominent effect with virtually no bookings in July and August but with September, October and November being fully booked! needless to say that nearly all of my time in these three months was taken up with wedding work.
I would like to thank all my Brides and Grooms for allowing me to witness and photograph their special day, each and every one was very different which made the job very enjoyable, and all the brides were beautiful!
It has also been very busy on the portraits front with the various offers that were available during the year proving very popular indeed. This in itself has not been without problems as I am still having to hire studio space, this should be solved with the opening of my new studio in Southampton in the new year, all things going well I hope to be open by the end of February but I will be giving regular updates on progress on this Blog.
I have had many family and couples shoots this year but the big winners are Bump to Baby and newborn shoots, these have really taken off and have been great fun to shoot, it is really nice to see the expression on the face of the expectant mum when she see's the images of her bump, I have produced some amazing albums that I am sure will be the cause of embarrassment for many future teenagers ;-))
Looking forward to 2013, bookings and enquiries for 2013 are already up on 2012 with March, May and August almost fully booked up.
Negotiations for the new studio are well underway and I have some absolutely amazing promotions in the pipeline so keep an eye open for them.
All in all 2012 was not a bad year for us but the recession has most certainly had a major effect, but the green shoots of recovery are evident and hopefully 2013 will be a little better.
I would like to thank all my visitors and clients a very happy and prosperous new year
Ray
